Scott Nussbaum - Vice President

Temple Sinai is my Sinai because I appreciate the warm, welcoming, and approachable Jewish community created by the clergy and staff. Growing up in a Jewish-by-tradition-but-barely-by-faith household in Southern California, the synagogue I belonged to had no cantor and my Bar Mitzvah took place in an industrial park. While I’ve always held a strong sense of Jewish values and customary traditions, I hadn’t lived in or been part of a Jewish community until Temple Sinai. To me, religion binds generations together through a common history, shared traditions, and foundational values. Temple Sinai proudly supports, honors, and reinforces these goals.

My wife, Emily, and I have two daughters who are preparing to become B’nei Mitzvah in 2021. This will mark our tenth anniversary at Temple Sinai, beginning with nursery school. I’m honored and humbled to be joining the Temple Sinai Board of Trustees where I will do my part to support the people that do so much to take care of our synagogue, children, and community.

Professionally, I’m the Chief Compliance Officer at a boutique provider of investment due-diligence services. I also serve on the boards of directors for a small technology company in the travel and tourism industry and a non-profit scouting-affiliated organization in California. My hobbies include investing, chasing my children, and dabbling in IT support, facilities maintenance, plant management, and procurement at my home in Roslyn.
