Tashlich 2020
All over the world, Jews gather on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah to perform tashlich, a simple but ancient ritual for symbolically casting away our sins (often in the form of breadcrumbs) into a flowing body of water. For both children and adults, tashlich is a physical act that engages all the senses-whether it's the thoughtful walk to the water, the satisfying toss of the breadcrumbs, or the chance to see how far they will travel.
This year, our clergy will be present at North Hempstead Bar Beach on Saturday, September 19, to personally guide you through the act of tashlich. Additionally, live shofar blowing by our very own members will take place every hour onsite.
To participate in tashlich, YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR A TIME SLOT. In order to abide by health and safety standards for in-person meetings, a maximum of 45 people will be able to sign up for a time slot. Once the limit is reached, the time slot will be closed.
In the event of inclement weather, tashlich will be rescheduled for Sunday, September 20 (with the same time slots).
